GROUND PROXIMITY CONTACT SYSTEM
GPCS is not just a chair, but an embodiment of the connection between human and nature. Its design is intentionally minimalist, composed only of four vertical aluminum poles that stand as pillars, reaching upwards towards the sky.
The chair is not fixed to the ground, but rather relies on a system of ropes that are bound to the earth, allowing the seat to stand. The act of assembling the GPCS is an experience that brings the user in close proximity with the raw essence of the earth. The user must engage in a process of connecting the ropes to the ground, grounding the chair to the earth. This process is an invitation to slow down and engage with the present moment, to contemplate the interconnectedness of all things. As the user sits in the GPCS chair, they are reminded of their place within the larger ecological system.
The chair becomes a symbol of our dependence on the earth and our responsibility to care for it. It serves as a call to action, inspiring us to live in a more harmonious relationship with the natural world.
